Vertigo
I intended to write this letter on reaching 100% return to normalcy, but decided that at 80% my story might already be helpful.
To this day I have a hard time articulating the symptoms that brought me to you. Perpetual mind fog and complete inability to concentrate, accompanied by extreme tightness at the base of my skull and occasional waves of dizziness, 24/7. At 56 and otherwise very healthy, I didn't know where to begin for medical diagnosis. Upon the referral of three friends, I came to you late last summer, my lucky day!
Two of the referring friends, both dealing with more traditional vertigo, had gotten quick relief from NUCCA with only a few treatments. After the machines showed both my "vertebra" and "twist" misalignments to be "in your top worst five", I knew it wasn't likely my fix would be quick. I was encouraged that you could see the problem was pressure on my brain stem caused by the misalignments.
I must say, that while I was already quite knowledgeable about holistic health, I came with a negative predisposition to chiropractors, mainly the premise of a long-term program of treatment. I have come to understand that it took a long time to get to my state of misalignment, and that it would take time for my body to heal and retrain itself to hold a corrected alignment. Some conditions, and some bodies, take longer than others.
The journey has not been quick or easy for me, especially when I often felt worse rather than better for days after an adjustment, when I wasn't holding a correction for more than three days at a time, when we couldn't get consistent adjustment results, when I had to deal with traffic on 285 twice a week. But I knew that I could not cope indefinitely with my symptoms and I persevered, helped by the experience of yet another friend who found relief for her vertigo only after six months.
It's thrilling each time I hold a correction longer than the time before, 6 weeks last time, and the "outs" are not as far out! Though I'm consistently holding at about 80% improvement, I'm greedy now for that last 20%, some lingering tightness in my neck which, if I could get out from behind my desk and onto a desert island for a few weeks I think I'd reach. Since I can't do that (I run a small business), I try my best, which is far from perfect, to follow your prescription for good nutrition, stress reduction, exercise and positive thinking.
