Having lived through multiple years of pain and treatment for TMJ, I am elated to report the healing I have experienced through treatment with a NUCCA specialist.

As a hygienist, I have had multiple professionals recommend a variety of treatments over the last 30 years. I have gone the extreme from injections in the muscles in my neck to try and alleviate pain; to both maxillary and mandibular bite guards. I have become a habitual clencher/grinder and thus have involved all the musculature surrounding my head and neck. There were many days I would wake up in tears because my neck hurt so much.

I tried traditional chiropractic treatment and found one Dr. that helped me a great deal. I would get better for a while, but lapse into pain and muscle spasm so easily. I could not understand why I was so vulnerable as I live a very healthy life style (excellent diet and consistent exercise).

In my quest to become more fit and develop greater muscle strength, I started working with the exercise physiologist. Upon examination she said, your "atlas is off" and you need to see someone with training in NUCCA. New cult, I thought. Little did I know, that introduction was about to change my life. Treating the upper cervical portion of my spine has taken me out of pain. What is more significant to me is I have remained out of pain.

The minimally invasive adjustment leaves one feeling like "nothing has happened". No popping, no crunching, no twisting. Just gentle pressure that you almost cannot detect. But powerful enough to adjust my occlusion to a place that seems compatible with the rest of my body.
